Reading breakfast – working in partnership with our parents
The nursery children have enjoyed welcoming their family into nursery recently, for one of our half termly ‘Reading Breakfast’ sessions. Every half term, our families are invited to come into nursery at the beginning or end of a session and while sharing stories is the aim of these events, the children always enjoy showing off their play space to their special adult who comes along too.
Our reading breakfasts complement our weekly lending library scheme, where the children get the chance to borrow a book to share with their family at home, which is often a highlight of the week for the children as they flick through all the stories on offer. The library books are available for the children to read together at the breakfast sessions, as well as our traditional tales and many other books we have around nursery. We have enjoyed fruit juice, croissants, brioche and tasty fruit alongside our stories and it is always a great start, or end, the day.
