Academy consultation

Over the past two years, governors and senior leaders have been proactive in exploring the possibility of becoming an academy in order to secure our school’s long term future.  We have completed extensive research both individually and collaboratively with other local primary schools to consider the best solution for our individual school.

Our decision to become an academy is very much a positive one and from a position of strength. We believe it to be in our school’s best interests to work within a trust which respects schools’ individual identities and shares our own ethos.

In December 2024, the DfE formally granted an Academy Order for the school to investigate creating a partnership within Moorlands Learning Trust (MLT).  MLT is a Multi-Academy Trust originally set up by Ilkley Grammar School. The Trust currently comprises of 3 secondary and 4 primary partner schools and has also recently begun formal consultation with Benton Park High school in Leeds.

The Governing Board has commenced its due diligence checks in consultation with MLT and the Local Authority.  Consulting with our community stakeholders is an essential element of this process, therefore this page aims to provide: up to date information on the consultation process, copies of presentations and answers to questions raised by parents and carers.  We have also provided a link to a ‘live’ questionnaire to allow parents and carers to ask any questions throughout the consultation process.  You can also send any questions or queries directly to the school via admin@talbotprimary.net
