The children at Talbot Primary School make strong progress and achieve well over their seven years of schooling. The national tests are one important measure of success, as strong outcomes in reading, writing and maths helps ensure children are well prepared for each subsequent stage of learning and ultimately high school. You can also view a more detailed analysis on the DfE Compare School and College performance measures website.
Year 6 Results 2024-25
In May 2023, the Year 6 SATs assessed how confidently pupils were performing in English and Maths. Pupils sat national tests for Reading, SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) and Maths. Standards in writing were teacher assessed over a period of time based on a portfolio of work. Talbot‘s results were above above both the national average and local average for Leeds in all subjects, and often significantly so.

An alternative way at measuring achievement is to compare the Average Point Score of pupils at the end of Key Stage 2. The national expectation is to score 100+ in each subject (NB: there is no average point score for writing due to the manner it is assessed).

The Covid pandemic led to the cancellation of the Year 2 SATs for this cohort; therefore, there is no baseline measure for this cohort and ultimately no progress data. This is a national issue.

There is no statutory KS1 national data for 2025, because the KS1 national curriculum tests and teacher assessments became non-statutory from the academic year 2023-24, with the statutory Reception Baseline Assessment (RBA) replacing them for cohort-level progress measures. While Talbot Primary School chooses to administer the optional KS1 tests to inform teacher assessments, this data is not considered a national statutory requirement.
