Understanding the world – learning about winter
The children love to be outside and so they need to come dressed for all weathers.
Reception love using different equipment to experiment and explore the world around them. They have collected rain and used it to fill up containers to see how much fell. They have seen how strong the wind can be, as it spun their windmills and made their streamers blow.
The children loved playing in the snow, making snow castles and ice-creams; however, most of all, they loved those small number of foggy days in December. Reception made glow-in-the-dark bangles and found different ways to make it dark enough to see them; they also tested out different torches. Everyone thought it was hilarious that the ‘clouds had fallen down’ and the children could feel them on their faces.
Later in the year, the children will enjoy learning about the sun and warmer weather.
