Understanding the World - I spy spiders
The children noticed a ‘resident’ spider living in the corner of the hall, where they queue up for lunch. They named him ‘Mr Skinnylegs’ and he had become quite a celebrity. We spent some time finding out about spiders and asking questions like ‘what do spiders like to drink?
We’ve enjoyed hunting for other spiders outside and appreciating their webs. We then welcomed a huge spider called Webster into the garden. We counted out the correct number of wellies for his legs and took him lots of food. We created our own webs for him. Now it’s getting colder we are wrapping him in a blanket and making him mugs of mud kitchen hot chocolate.
