Year two have been reading different poems about bugs. The children have learned the poem ‘I like Bugs’ by Margaret Wise Brown using actions and pictures to help them.
Then they wanted to try writing their own bug poetry, and we thought the best way to gather ideas would be to go on a bug hunt to observe different bugs for ourselves! The children found lots of different bugs around our school grounds, and wrote down adjectives and verbs to describe how the bugs looked and moved. They will use the ‘word banks’ that they created to write their own bug poems!
