On Monday 19th May, Year 5 visited the Leeds Grand Mosque. Our first impression was that unlike our expectations, this mosque had no domes or minarets and you wouldn’t have even known it existed unless you had seen the sign.
Inside, we were invited into the prayer room where we were shown how Muslims pray and listened to the call to prayer. We also heard stories about Mohammed, learned about Eid and the Qur’an and had the opportunity to dress up in clothing from different Muslim countries. We were made to feel really welcome and it was a lovely opportunity for the children to understand a different faith.
