In November, the Year 4 classes both visited a Hindu temple in north Leeds. This was part of our RE learning about Diwali.
Many of the children had never been to a Hindu place of worship before and were amazed by the intricate carvings, beautiful paintings and colourful decorations. The priest told us a lot about the background of Hinduism and explained some of the statues and paintings inside the room.
We then had the opportunity to watch the mid-morning prayers. Visitors to the temple entered and began to chant and clap with the priest. They gave offerings to the statues of the deities and rang bells. All of the children were enraptured by what they were seeing!
